So here's what's happening. There are two venues, the Apple Butter Markets and Concerts in the Park. And be sure to check the Snallygaster for more details.

Apple Butter Markets

Apple Butter MarketLast year, Sykesville’s Apple Butter Markets won a Pride in Place Award. This year they’ll continue the tradition, bringing entertainment, crafts, artisans, food, and fun to Sykesville’s South Branch Park, just over the river from Baldwin’s Station.

Oh, and there’s going to be some Shakespeare. On selected dates at 12:30 pm, The Shakespeare Factory will perform scenes from their summer season.

Apple Butter Markets are the last Sunday of the month, 12 noon to 4.

Proceeds go to restore the Historic Apple Butter Warehouse that sits in the park awaiting its revival.

Sykesville Concerts in the Park

The concerts in the park are great. They’re free. There’s plenty of parking at Sykesville Middle, also free, you’re in the park under ancient trees, you can get right up close to the music, or really far away, and the kids can run off and play on the lighted playground while you watch the show.

Most of the talent is local and good, including Sykesville’s teen super-group, Crossfire, and the almost famous Drew Stevyns, who made a big splash on America’s Got Talent.

Concerts run each Friday through August 13, 7 to 9 pm at Millard Cooper Park, beside Sykesville Middle School.

The Snack Bar's open, featuring Chic-Fil-A and Hoffman's Homemade Ice Cream, Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Nachos, Candy & Drinks.
